Let’s face it: we all want the body of a supermodel, or at least one that comes close. Now, thanks to such platforms as Instagram, we know that, for instance, Gigi Hadid’s preferred form of exercise is boxing. Physical activity is paramount to getting in shape, we’re all clear on that one. However, we also know that the rule of thumb is – 70% diet, 30% exercise, and that pretty much proves just how much depends on proper diet. Now, contrary to popular belief, models do eat, and we’re about to reveal all the secrets regarding their dietary habits, and perhaps try to emulate them, so we can also have ‘the body’ – minus the height for some of us.
Let’s start with Bella
One of the most coveted models of today has a very simple recipe for success - when it comes to diet, she follows a strict low carb high protein diet. She states that keeping her diet full of protein and generally clean of any unhealthy food is the first step to success. High water intake is the second Hadid rule – always stay hydrated. She does have her cheat days, but they’re quite rare, and when she does break her rules, she does it with pizza – so when the time comes to cheat, make sure you cheat with your all-time favorite.
Hey there, Gigi
The second of the supermodel sister duo, Gigi, likes to maintain versatility in her life when it comes to her diet. Generally, bacon and eggs are breakfast go-tos. Now, the reason for this is because she tends to work out after her breakfast, so if you’re gonna indulge in bacon, you better make sure you burn it all afterwards. Once the grueling exercise session is over, the model doesn’t shy away from rewarding herself with a good lunch – she doesn’t stay away from burgers, saying they keep her sane, but arugula salad is her forever go-to. Now, one would think that a supermodel will definitely skip dinner, but that’s not the case, at least not for this sweetheart. Her most frequent ‘weapon of choice’ is sushi. It’s delicious and low-fat, so there’s nothing wrong with having dinner as long as you do it right. As you can see, the main secret is having definitive healthy meal plans that suit your needs and fitness goals and sticking to them.
The secret’s out
No, not only the secret that Miranda Kerr is expecting, but her dietary secrets are out too. The supermodel was kind enough to spend a day with Harper’s Bazaar and tell us everything she eats in a typical day. Namely, the model always kicks the day off with hot water and lemon, not only because the beverage is packed with vitamin C, but also because it does wonders for the digestive system. Breakfast time is mostly liquid and it consists of a smoothie made of almond milk, fresh papaya, spinach, blueberries and raspberries. It’s safe to say that Kerr knows her way around superfoods and has snagged only the best ones, full of both nutrients and antioxidants. Of course, she also indulges in tiny pancakes – made of bananas, oatmeal and fresh eggs. This is a great healthy alternative to traditional carb-loaded pancakes, because it contains less fat and fewer carbs, but is equally delicious. As for lunch, salmon with healthy greens is the most beloved and frequently prepared meal in the Kerr home – those omega 3 fatty acids are always welcome. Now, dinner is a surprising choice – slow roast chicken, but hey, when you do yoga and numerous other forms of exercises, you can let go and live a little. On top of that, the portions are quite small, compared to what we mere mortals eat, so when you closely analyze Kerr’s diet, it’s not so much about what you eat, but how much you eat.
Last, but not least
We couldn’t possibly finish the list without mentioning the highest paid model in the industry – Miss Kendall Jenner. Kendall has a thing for grilled veggies and rice (yum) and there’s also plenty of humus, aside from raw veggies, and frozen yogurt for those days when you want to indulge without the subsequent feeling of guilt. Just like Kerr, she’s a also a fan of superfoods, and her common go-tos are eggs and avocado – very rich in protein. Now, Kendall is happy to share her undying love of pizza (just like Bella) and she also has a soft spot for pasta, but again, these are those precious moments we call cheat days.
The main thing to remember is that these girls work out frequently and intensively, so if you want their body by following their diet, you’re going to have to follow up with an exercise regimen to match.
