AM: Please tell us more about you
AF: My academic journey was in computer programming which proves that what you study doesn't always define your passion. Despite having a different academic background, I have found my calling and fulfillment in the world of entertainment. I am deeply passionate about storytelling through film and television. I've been fortunate to star in several acclaimed movies, such as The Tambour of Retribution, which garnered prestigious awards at the 42nd Cairo Film Festival, and Within Sand, highlighted at the Red Sea International Film Festival in 2022.

Away from the silver screen, you might recognize me from my Netflix success From the Ashes, a project that resonated globally and held the top spot for several months. Television has also been a significant part of my journey, where I have demonstrated my versatility in various popular series such as Alzahriyah, Cloud Kitchen, Alwaad, Kidnap, Mnho Waladna, Om Alqalayed, and Aljabrya, earning heartfelt acclaim from audiences.

AM: And why acting as your calling?
AF: Acting allows me to step into different roles and explore the depths of human emotions. When I stand in front of the camera I become fully immersed in the character’s world, channeling their experiences and emotions.

AM: Any actors you looked up to?
AF: My acting inspiration spans a wide spectrum of Arab and international icons. From Soad Hosny, Nelly Karim, and Hend Sabry to Reham Abdulghafour, Mona Zaki, Menna Shalabi, and
Donia Samir Ghanem, these talented figures have profoundly influenced my approach to storytelling. Additionally, I draw inspiration from global stars like Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson, and Sandra Bullock, whose diverse perspectives and impactful performances continue to shape my passion for acting.

AM: Did you face any challenges at the debut of your career?
AF: Facing challenges and overcoming the fear of failure was a big part of my journey. One of the toughest hurdles was convincing my family, especially my dad, about pursuing a new career path that they were unfamiliar with and had concerns about. They worried about the safety and potential challenges of the industry. I had to reassure them that I could handle it and stand up for myself. At first, my mom even used to drop me off and check everything herself to make sure I was safe. It took nearly a year to convince my dad, but eventually, he came around and supported my decision wholeheartedly.

AM: And what kind of roles do you like to play?
AF: I seek roles that offer depth and challenge. They allow me to fully explore the complexities of different characters and their experiences, which pushes my acting abilities to new limits. By taking on such roles, I’m not only growing as an actress but also finding deep satisfaction in portraying characters with rich, multifaceted personalities and stories.

AM: You mentioned that you are interested in becoming a producer, why so?
AF: I am deeply committed to fostering the growth of the Saudi film industry. I see my future as a producer to actively influence and propel its advancement. I want to ensure that a wide array of stories and talents are prominently showcased. My mission is to discover narratives that defy conventions, inspire audiences, and celebrate Saudi Arabia's diverse cultural heritage.

AM: How was your experience at the 2024 edition of the Cannes Film Festival?
AF: Being part of this year’s Cannes Film Festival through the Red Sea International Film Festival's Women in Cinema was truly extraordinary. I was honored as one of the six celebrated women for our achievements in the film industry. This experience symbolized breaking down barriers and proudly representing my country on a global platform. Professionally, it provided invaluable opportunities to expand my horizons and connect with industry professionals worldwide. On a personal level, it filled me with overwhelming pride and gratitude, knowing that I am contributing to a transformative movement in Saudi cinema and playing a pivotal role in representing Saudi talent on an international stage.

AM: What is your proudest career moment?
AF: Each project I've been a part of holds a special place in my heart. Some of the highlights include winning awards for The Tambour of Retribution, where the jury wanted to award two prizes to actors from the same movie but were initially refused by the jury head. Another significant moment was the tremendous success of my Netflix film From the Ashes. I also cherish receiving the Best Actress award at the Riyadh Theater Festival and being recently honored at the Women in Cinema event hosted by the Red Sea International Film Festival and Vanity Fair at the Cannes Film Festival.

AM: What are your thoughts about the promising changes happening in the Saudi film industry?
AF: I envision Saudi cinema embarking on a path towards a bright future characterized by creativity, diversity, and professional growth. Our rapid adoption of new technologies and industry advancements is incredibly promising, indicating that we possess the essential elements; energy, talent, and enthusiasm to emerge as key contributors in the global film industry within a relatively short span of time.

AM: A word of advice for all emerging actors?
AF: It's essential to fully immerse yourself in your characters while staying grounded. Pursue this path out of your passion for storytelling and remain committed to learning and continuously developing your craft. Persistence is key; focus on the journey of growth and artistic development rather than chasing money or fame. While other paths may appear more straightforward, genuine fulfillment stems from dedicating yourself wholeheartedly to your passion and embracing the challenges and rewards that come with it.

AM: Finally, what are your upcoming projects?
AF: A new movie is set to release soon, and I'm currently engaged in multiple projects for the near future.
